Net Zero & the Role of Science, Innovation & Collaboration: Professor Paul Monks

In this Birmingham Energy Institute guest lecture, Professor Paul Monks, Chief Scientific Adviser for BEIS highlights how Net Zero provides a challenge which is pervasive through the whole of the UK economy as fossil fuels are used as an energy source in numerous applications.

In this lecture Professor Monks explores how this this complex challenge provides opportunities for the UK to be a global leader in net zero technologies via the utilisation of our science and research base to grow our economy and level up the regions. The magnitude of the challenge also requires the agreement and collaboration with other nations through engagement at COP26 and other initiatives such as Mission Innovation.
